This is not doctoral video. This is the efficient delivery of a Major League knuckleball. What makes it efficient, and what is difficult to do, is the lack of spin while throwing that step at 70mph. Hitting a floating ball like that, with such unpredictable movement, is really difficult for the batter. It is also difficult terrain to catch. Many catchers must use specially designed gloves to catch throwers who primarily throw punchballs.

[Baltimore] Orioles video content creator Johnny Douglas captured hopes of throwing Mickey Jannis throwing knuckleball during a spring training game against the Detroit Tigers on Saturday. Jannis, 33, is a former 44th round pick trying to bring back the knuckleball. The last full-time pitcher to use him was Steven Wright, who hasn’t appeared in an MLB game since 2019.
Douglas’s work with the camera also deserves to be commended. It’s hard enough to keep up with a step moving faster than 70 km / h from the mound to the marble, but achieving this level of focus with the lens at the same time is an impressive feat.
