Konami has announced the latest in the series of retracted retro consoles, the TurboGrafx-16 Mini. Until now, six games have been announced for the system, which will be released in Japan under the name of PC Engine Mini and in Europe under the name of PC Engine Core Grafx. It will have two USB ports for controllers and will support a five-way multiplayer adapter.
The games announced up to here are:
- Type R
- New Island Adventure
- Ninja spirit
- Ys Book I & II
- Dungeon Explorer
- Alien Crush
Other versions of the system have different games advertised until now. For example, it is confirmed that PC Engine Mini includes Castlevania classical Dracula X: Blood Rondo.
The original PC motor was designed by Hudson and manufactured by NEC. It was launched in Japan in 1987, followed by TurboGrafx-16 in the United States in 1989. The PC engine performed well in Japan, but the TurboGrafx-16 did not have much impact in the US .
Konami was one of the biggest proponents of the platform and eventually acquired Hudson, which means that the mini-console should not have much trouble securing a solid software lineup. We do not know how many games there will be in total, nor on the prices or a release date. Konami says this information will come soon.
