Konami is said to be working on games from the Metal Gear, Castlevania and Silent Hill series, with internal and external studios attached.
Anonymous publishing sources told VGC that Konami is refocusing on game development within its most beloved series. According to these same sources, the first of these games will be a “reimagining” of Castlevania developed mainly by internal Konami studios.
The report adds that Konami is planning remasters of the original Metal Gear Solid games for new consoles, as well as a potential full Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake. Many have speculated that remake specialist Bluepoint will be working on an MGS remake, but VGC sources say it’s managed by Singaporean studio Virtuos (which previously worked on the Switch port of Dark Souls Remastered, among other projects).
This is supported by the Game Data Analyst Millie A (who correctly called up several other announcements in advance), Millie A commented after Sony acquired Bluepoint to say that the studio was actually working on a remake alongside an original game, but was not this was not a Metal Gear game.
Finally, VGC reaffirms that several Silent Hill games are under development, including one from a “prominent” Japanese developer. Many believe that the Polish team Bloober is working on another Silent Hill game after the announcement of a partnership between the two companies.
We have contacted Konami for comment. The developer has recently taken small steps towards developing new console games alongside the creation of a Western publishing division. The company also restructured its gaming division earlier this year to make it more efficient. Konami released a collection of popular Castlevania games last week, which may also be an attempt to test the waters of the series.
Konami also recently renamed its long-running PES series to eFootball, switching to a free-to-play structure. Unfortunately, this game suffers from a very unstable launch.
