Konami will release three Anniversary Collection compilations in 2019, based on the Castlevania franchise, the Contra franchise, and its first arcade games. Konami's anniversary collections commemorate the company's 50th anniversary and will be released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC via Steam and Xbox One.
The first anniversary collection will compile eight of the 1980s society arcade games. Konami birthday collection: Arcade The classics will be released digitally on April 18 for $ 19.99 and will include the following titles:
- Haunted Castle
- A-Jax (alias Typhoon)
- Gradius
- Gradius 2
- Life force
- Thunder Cross
- blur
- TwinBee
Konami will follow his Arcade Classics release with the Castlevania: Anniversary Collection beginning of summer. It will also include eight titles, four of which have been announced: Castlevania (NDA), Castlevania 2: The revenge of Belmont (Boy) Castlevania 3: the curse of Dracula (NDA), and Super Castlevania 4 (Super NDA).
Come early summer is the Contra: Anniversary Collection. Confirmed for the collection of eight games so far are Contra (arcade), Super Contra (arcade), Super C (NDA), and Contra 3: The extraterrestrial wars (Super NDA).
Konami still has a lot of classic Castlevania and Contra games to choose from which has not been confirmed, such as Castlevania: the lines and Contra: Hard body. Presumably, games like these and variants like Vampire Slayer for the MSX2, will complement non-advertised games.
Each anniversary collection will include a digital book containing information such as "interviews with development staff, behind-the-scenes information, sketches and design documents never before revealed to the public," according to the Konami website.
