Korra, Aang, and more characters arrive in Nickelodeon’s fighting game

GameMill announced the next fighter, Nickelodeon Star Brawl Tuesday. The title is a 2D fighting game similar to Super Smash Bros. which features mascots from all of Nickelodeon’s popular shows like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Sponge Bob SquarePants.

The trailer featured a meaty roster of contestants, but fans were quick to seek out information about the unannounced fighters on the roster. After searching, people on Twitter found an art box for the Nintendo Switch version of the game which revealed that Korra, from Avatar: The Legend of Korra will likely join the fight.

Here’s why we think it will happen. For one thing, a post on Twitter quickly pointed out an arena in the trailer that takes inspiration from Ba Sing Se from the Avatar universe. In addition to the course, there is the box art which shows the silhouettes of what looks like Korra, the protagonist of The legend of Korra and Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender. (Although it should be noted that Korra’s silhouette is much more distant and easier to distinguish than Aang’s.)

Of the other characters not shown in the trailer appearing on the cover, it looks like we’ll have CatDog and Ren & Stimpy. We don’t know if they’ll appear as separate fighters or as a Banjo-Kazooie-style duo, but Ren & Stimpy would also make sense since Powdered Toast Man has already been confirmed and is part of their show.

Beyond those possible characters, the game’s trailer confirmed a motley team of Nickelodeon characters slated for battle. We will have Lincoln Loud and Lucy from The noisy house, Toast Man powder The Ren & Stimpy Show, Oblina of Aaahh !!! Real monsters, Nigel Thornberry from The wild thorns, Helga from Hi Arnold!, Zim (Invader Zim), Reptar of Rugrats, and Danny Phantom from his eponymous show.

The game also features characters from longtime franchises like Michelangelo and Leonardo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and three characters from Sponge Bob SquarePants: Sandy Cheeks, Patrick Star and SpongeBob SquarePants himself.

The game is slated for release in fall 2021.
