The Kotaku bomb report on the situation of the Call of Duty 2020 game also included a component of this year's Call of Duty title.
Kotaku reports that Activision is looking to adopt the free game and that the new title Modern Warfare of 2019 may have a free component to play, but plans to do so could change because they are not immutable.
Internally, Activision's executives have started talking about adopting free gaming as a revenue model – once the publisher is anathema – and three sources say it plans to offer a component free to play for this year's new Modern Warfare, although details are not yet finalized. Some members of Activision remained opposed to this idea.
Activision has been discussing the idea of playing for free for some time, based on calls from their investors recently. The company was open to the idea of playing for free, but was very vague about what it means or what will happen to the Activision titles.
