Ming-Chi Kuo, a trustworthy analyst for Apple, today publishes a new ticket for the investor. Kuo recalls that the three new iPhones in 2019 will add support for wireless bilateral billing, building on what he said in a separate investor note released earlier this year. Kuo says the 5.8-inch, 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch iPhones will all add support for the bilateral charge this year. In turn, this should have a positive impact on several Apple partners, including the Compeq battery card provider and other Unimicron and TTM vendors.
Bilateral wireless charging means users will be able to place wireless enabled devices on the back of their iPhone. The iPhone will then be able to share the power of this device via a wireless charge. For example, users will be able to charge their AirPods with a wireless charging case via two-way wireless charging. You can also charge another iPhone via a two-way wireless charge.
To support bidirectional wireless charging, Mr Kuo said the iPhone's battery size would increase. The analyst predicts that the iPhone's 5.8-inch battery will increase by 20 to 25 percent and that of 6.5-inch by 10 to 15 percent. The 6.1-inch iPhone XR battery will increase very little, with Kuo predicting a 0-5% bump.
The iPhone XS has a battery of 2658 mAh, while the iPhone XS Max contains a battery of 3175 mAh. The battery of the iPhone XR reaches 2,942 mAh. Increasing the size of the battery allows users to take advantage of the two-way wireless charge without greatly affecting the battery life of their iPhone.
The latest Samsung Galaxy S10 supports bidirectional wireless charging. Samsung claims that users can charge Qi-enabled devices, such as their Galaxy Buds, via the feature. Last month, Kuo increased its shipping forecast for the Galaxy S10 due to the specification differentiation between the latter and the iPhone.
