Kyle Shanahan: Jimmy Garoppolo has a chance to play Sunday against the Cardinals

Don’t count 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo out of Sunday’s game against the Cardinals just yet.

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said today Garoppolo’s calf injury will be reassessed on Wednesday and there is a chance he could play in Arizona on Sunday.

Previous reports indicated Garoppolo would miss a few weeks, but Shanahan seemed more optimistic than that about the possibility that the calf bruise wasn’t that bad to force Garoppolo to miss a game.

Trey Lance replaced Garoppolo on Sunday, which immediately raised the question of whether this would become Lance’s job for good. But Lance could return to the sidelines if Garoppolo can go this week.
