MINNEAPOLIS – Overall, Kyler Murray knew that the putrid performance of the first team against the Raiders last week did not mean much.

However, a quarter of the Cardinals still did not like the taste he left in his mouth for nine days. Murray and the offensive resumed Saturday afternoon against the Vikings, moving the ball consistently in a 20-9 loss.

Murray, who will not play in the pre-season final on Thursday against the Broncos, finished the game with 14 passes in 21 passes for 137 yards. The Cardinals did not score under his direction, but they scored three goals on Zane Gonzalez's court.

"Knowing we will not play next week, no one wants to come here and lay an egg," said Murray. "We did not put the ball in the end zone, but we maintained our efforts this week and I think we were more consistent. Everyone felt better about how we play.

Murray showed impressive deep ball accuracy with a 33-yard pass to Damiere Byrd early in the game, followed by two beautiful finals for KeeSean Johnson – the first of a laser at the back of the game. shoulder for 19 yards and the second at 29- throwing wire-to-the-needle between two converging defenders.

"He made quick decisions," said coach Kliff Kingsbury. "We had some things to wish for, but everything is a matter of progress. Every week we want to improve and playing against a very good defense that showed several looks, I thought it was behaving quite well.

A week after being called for a double penalty for false start, Murray used a silent count instead of one shot to break the ball and had no problem. However, the quarterback Brett Hundley was called for two false starts because his false clap was again deemed too abrupt.

"I did not have a lot of explanations about it and I did not really look for it," said Kingsbury. "We will work at different rates and do different things. … It's always a work in progress.
