Kylie Jenner faces backlash for ‘impractical’ swimsuit line

Kylie Jenner seems to have her arms full with her 3-year-old daughter Stormi, another baby on the way and the recent launch of her latest two brands, Kylie Baby and Kylie Swim. But the 24-year-old has more to come as netizens lash out at her swimsuits weeks after its September 17 launch, calling the line for its poor quality.

Jenner started teasing her new business just a month before customers could start getting their hands on her new suits by setting up a new Instagram account that has over 900,000 followers. And while the swimsuits look great in photos and on various designs, they did not live up to the expectations of people who were lucky enough to try the brand in real life.

On TikTok, some users got millions of views from their honest Kylie Swim reviews as they tried on the swimsuit on camera. The biggest complaint is the material the costumes are made from, as countless women demonstrate that the pieces are see-through. Others drew attention to more general issues of quality and sizing.

“The whole swimsuit is see-through. I don’t get it. Once I move, everything will be fine. I would never wear this in public,” YouTuber Laura Lee said in her video. “These are the least practical swimsuits you can buy.”

Shayla Mitchell, known as MakeupbyShayla online, added, “Honey, you can’t get wet with this.”

Some of the most popular reviews come from Jessica Anderson, a TikTok user and founder of her own 93 Play Street swimwear line. Her background in making swimwear, she said, helped inform her opinions.

“Personally, I don’t know anyone’s body that this would work for,” Anderson said in the first video as she compared the suit’s bottom cover to three other brands, including her own. In her second video, she shared her final thoughts. “I’m completely and utterly disappointed that it’s completely transparent. I’ve seen the behind the scenes of what it takes to produce swimwear and the fact that no one has figured out that it’s completely transparent just overwhelms me. am sure they did because they had to photoshop some of their photos for it to work. “

She added, “For me it comes down to a lack of integrity.”

People on Twitter and Reddit have shared similar thoughts on the design and fit of swimwear.

“Kylie designed them for HER body. Not the average woman. There’s no way I or anyone I know could fit in without something slipping,” one Reddit user wrote. “I really don’t understand why she would post them given how much limited bodies could hold on to them.”

“I don’t understand how you can be so cheap with manufacturing costs as a billionaire,” said another on Twitter.

Kylie Swim did not immediately respond to Yahoo Life’s request for comment, and the brand did not respond publicly to the claims either. Still, it looks like customers are ready to get in touch with the brand as many begin to infiltrate the comments section of Kylie Swim’s latest Instagram post with their concerns.

“I emailed you about my order and still haven’t heard back,” one person commented. “FAIL,” wrote another.

Jenner has been criticized before for products from her other branded categories including the nutty face scrub which was released with the launch of Kylie Skin in 2019 for its main ingredient which has proven to be controversial in the past. The product is still for sale on the brand’s website.
