ARizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema lambasted fellow Democrats for failing to pass a bipartisan infrastructure proposal on Saturday afternoon after the House of Representatives failed to vote on the law.
A key obstacle to those trying to pass a massive spending program, Sinema said the House’s failure to vote on the bill was “inexcusable and deeply disappointing for communities across our country.” The delay, aimed at appeasing progressives who refuse to back the proposal without reaching agreement on a companion bill that would provide billions of dollars for social services, has cost the United States “millions of well-paying jobs “said the Arizona Democrat.
“My vote belongs to Arizona, and I don’t trade my vote for political favors – I vote only on what’s best for my state and the country,” she tweeted. “I have never accepted and never would accept a deal that would hold one law hostage to another.”

Sinema criticized members of her own party for their “ineffective coup to leverage a separate proposal,” saying she “never had and would never agree to a deal that would hold a bill hostage of another”.
“Good faith negotiations, however, require trust. During this year, Democratic leaders made conflicting promises that not all could be kept – and sometimes claimed that differences of opinion within of our party did not exist, even when these disagreements were clearly expressed repeatedly, directly and publicly. Canceling the vote on infrastructure further erodes that trust, “she said.” More importantly, it betrays the trust the American people have placed in their elected leaders and denies our country crucial investments to expand economic opportunities. “
After a week of arguments, Democratic leaders delayed voting on the infrastructure bill due to progressives’ refusal to support the measure without reaching agreement on a separate social change and change bill climate. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi delayed the vote, originally scheduled for Thursday evening, when it became clear the party did not have the backing required for the passage.
President Joe Biden remains committed to pushing through both bills, the White House said on Saturday, despite reports that the president’s visit to Capitol Hill on Friday ended without moving target lawmakers.

Pelosi ordered an Oct. 31 deadline to pass the infrastructure bill in a letter on Saturday, but urged the House to pass it even earlier “to get the jobs there.”
