The owner and operator of a popular Mexican restaurant in La Mirada sues a man who allegedly defamed him on Yelp by falsely stating that the restaurant serves “terrible” food, that the management is “crazy” and that the company is not affiliated with Los Location d’Angeles.
Former Pico Rivera mayor Ron Beilke filed a lawsuit in Norwalk Superior Court on Tuesday against Jairo Castillo, alleging libel, business denigration and interference with potential economic benefits and contractual relationships. Beilke is asking for at least $ 1 million in compensatory damages, plus unspecified punitive damages.
Castillo is a former La Mirada site employee who resigned in September, the lawsuit says. He could not be reached immediately for comment.

According to the lawsuit, Castillo in September launched a “calculated plan to destroy” the location of La Mirada with messages such as “This place sucks, don’t even go there”, “The food is disgusting and cold” and “Don’t waste your time or your money,” according to the costume.
Castillo also wrote, “This place is terrible. The food is terrible. The management is crazy,” the costume says.
Castillo added: “This place is a shame to pretend it’s part of the original and use their logo when not connected,” according to the complaint.
The lawsuit claims Castillo knew the messages were false and acted with “reckless disregard” for their content.
