Lady Gaga made a major fashion statement at Joe Biden’s inauguration on Wednesday, performing the national anthem in a Schiaparelli Haute Couture outfit consisting of a fitted navy jacket, a voluminous red skirt and a huge golden dove brooch to symbolize peace.
But many on social media couldn’t help but compare her dramatic look to those worn by Effie Trinket in the “Hunger Games” movies – and her bird pin to a mocking jay pin.
“Lady Gaga said, ‘Capitol? Say no more fam “And took his mood board out of the hunger games”, a person tweeted, while another wrote, “Kudos to Lady Gaga’s dress for her success in The Hunger Games.”
Tweeted a third, “Lady Gaga serves an Effie Trinket on Capitol Hill.”
Jennifer Lopez also performed at the inauguration, belting “This Land Is Your Land” in an all-white Chanel outfit that honored the suffragette movement.
Demi Lovato, John Legend and more are expected to perform at upcoming events on Wednesday.
