LAKEWOOD, Wash. – A suspected norovirus epidemic has shut down a restaurant in Lakewood.

Three people who ate at California Taco's son on Sunday said they were sick and two employees were away last week. They will be tested for norovirus.

The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department has announced that the restaurant would be closed at least until Thursday afternoon. In the meantime, staff will thoroughly clean the restaurant and health officials will decide if it is possible to reopen the restaurant safely.

Norovirus is very contagious. It can cause diarrhea and vomiting, often at the same time, according to health department officials. The symptoms usually last a day or two.
