Landcape videos are finally one thing on IGTV

"We've heard from creators who wanted to download landscape videos for IGTV, and we've heard viewers watching videos of landscapes in IGTV but wanting to look at them in a more natural way," Instagram said in a press release announcing functionality. For those of you who are not familiar with the long – term standalone video platform of Instagram, you are not alone. IGTV was launched in 2016 and was quickly forgotten, attracting only a fraction of the success of Instagram Stories. According to Sensor Tower, the IGTV application has only 4.2 million installations.

But Instagram is now trying to prevent IGTV from getting lost in trouble. In February, IGTV clips began appearing on Instagram feeds. It's a development that, along with the litany of commercials, stories and suggested hashtags, only adds to the clutter of Instagram. The social site that once stood out for its simplicity – a simple stream of uniform, square photos of friends – is now much busier and less personal. Although the adoption of the horizontal view may make IGTV more acceptable to video creators, this initiative will probably only add to the flood of content of an already cluttered application.
