Lane Kiffin clearly enjoys making fun of Nick Saban, whether on social media or the more traditional variety.
The former employee also co-opted his former employer’s “rat poison” line while sprinkling some of his own toxic positivity on the Crimson Tide. Kiffin combined the two on Wednesday when asked about next Saturday’s visit to Alabama.
Ole Miss (3-0) has an open week on Saturday and Kiffin was asked on the SEC coaching conference call if he likes having an extra week to prepare for the top-ranked Crimson Tide.
“As we know, they have a great team, great players,” Kiffin said. “I wish the media would stop pissing off Coach Saban by saying that they are a weak team or that they have weaknesses. I mean, they went on the road in a top 10 team, in the swamp. and won with a freshman quarterback. I had a quick lead and I hung on at the end and now all of a sudden they’re not a good team and they have weaknesses and they don’t. can’t stop people, so it doesn’t really help us to be there knowing how this place works. “
For clarity, Florida was No.11 when Alabama left with a 31-29 victory on Saturday and quarterback Bryce Young is a sophomore.
Kiffin then shared a link to this story from AL.com on his Twitter page with over 494,000 followers with this post:
“Please stop biting the bear !!!! They are loaded and have no “holes”@espn@finebaum@SECNetwork@CBSSportsBest team in America by far !!! ” Kiffin wrote.
He went further by discussing the advantage he sees in Alabama in attracting top talent.
“For years you have had the problem when you play in Alabama, they have five star players like an NFL team and better than some NFL teams in some positions,” Kiffin said. “Now they’re going to pick players for any hole they can get, like an Ohio State wide receiver (Jameson Williams) or a Tennessee linebacker (Henry To’o To’o). So now it’s like they not only get the top picks in the draft, but they can get in free agency and take players, so that’s really going to build up one of the most talented teams of all. the times, what we are preparing for. to play.”
To’o To’o topped 247Sports’ transfer portal talent charts while Williams was No.23. Former Vol leads Alabama in tackles with 22 while Jameson is second receiver with 11 catches for 218 yards.
Ole Miss had two of the top 150 players in that ranking led by No.59 linebacker Chance Campbell who arrived from Maryland. The former Terp leads the team in tackles with 19, including 2.5 for a loss including a sack.
