MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred announced the suspension in a press release on Tuesday, explaining that after reviewing the results of the investigation, he had concluded that Baer's conduct was "unacceptable." and justified disciplinary measures ". Baer was filmed on video and engaged in an argument with his wife who took a physical turn at the beginning of the month. The video of the incident shows Baer trying to grab something from his wife's hand, causing her to turn around in a chair and fall to the ground.

Baer, ​​who has been a member of the Giants since 1992, is on a leave of absence since March 4th. He said Tuesday in a statement that he accepted Manfred's decision.

"I've made a serious mistake that I sincerely regret and I'm really sorry for my actions," Baer said in part. "My unacceptable behavior was far below what is required of each person, particularly my position and my role in the community.I will now start the important work that remains to be done to listen and learn from my mistakes and for professional advice. "

Baer has been the Giants' "controlling person" since 2011, which means he represents the franchise at homeowner meetings. He has had a significant influence within the organization since Peter Magowan took over the club in 1992.
