SALT LAKE CITY – Larry King is seeking divorce from his seventh wife, Shawn King, after marrying them for 22 years, according to The Associated Press.
Larry King and Shawn King tied the knot in 1997. They have two adult sons, Chance and Cannon.
The couple initially filed for divorce in 2010 but stayed together for what appears to be nine years. King was married to seven different women and was married eight times, according to the Associated Press.
Shawn Southwick King is from Provo. She is the sister of Bret Engemann, a former BYU quarterback. She married Larry King in 1997.
Shawn King was 37 years old at the time of the marriage and King was 63. According to the Deseret News, Shawn King did his best to stay discreet despite his marriage to a person in the limelight.
But she is still well known in Utah, according to the Deseret News. She appeared in two episodes of Eugene Jeleznik's Utah Showtime in 1991. She also acted as singer for Marie Osmond. In fact, his father, Karl Engemann, was the music director of Osmond.
"She was very friendly," Jeleznik told Deseret News in 1998. "I was very impressed (with Southwick). If I was not impressed, I would not have seen it on my show. "
Shawn King spent a lot of her time running infomercials for her hair thickening samples, and she also developed her own skin care products and cosmetics for the home shopping network.
In 2010, Shawn Southwick King is recovering from an overdose of prescription drugs in Utah, according to the Deseret News. An emergency medical team was called to his home in Provo. Her father had called the authorities after finding her in bed breathing but not reacting.
The authorities told Deseret News that a handwritten note was letting officials know it wanted to take the drugs. Police said in a separate note that she wanted to be buried in Utah.
