The Las Vegas Raiders head coach once again denied being racist after his team played – and lost – their first game since revealing his racial comment in a 2011 email about the executive director of the NFL Players Association, DeMaurice Smith. “I’m not racist. I can’t tell you how sick I am,” Jon Gruden told reporters after the Raiders’ 20-9 loss to the Chicago Bears. “I apologize again to From Smith … I had no racial intent with those remarks. I’m not like that at all. I don’t want to keep talking about it. Earlier this week, The Wall Street Journal reported that Gruden wrote to former Washington football executive Bruce Allen during the 2011 NFL lockout, making a racist comment about Smith’s facial features. Gruden initially apologized when contacted by the Newspaper. The Associated Press reported that the league is investigating the incident and that two sources familiar with the process have said disciplinary action for Gruben is possible, although further suspension is unlikely.
