Las Vegas Raiders preseason: 5 Raiders to watch against the 49ers

The Las Vegas Raiders will close the preseason schedule Sunday at the San Francisco 49ers with a kickoff at 1 p.m. PT.

It looks like several young players will play a lot again as Raiders coach Jon Gruden and his team determine who can be counted on in 2021. Here’s a look at five young players who have a chance to show the squad they are on. can count. this season.

Divine Deablo:
The third-round pick has a big opportunity, but he doesn’t have much time either. The offseason and much of training camp were deprived of the Virginia Tech product with an injury, but it looks like he will be playing this week. With plenty of linebacker injuries, Deablo (who is a former college security) will stand a chance. But is it realistic for a player making a change of position who ran out of time to be chased at the start of the season? If Deablo isn’t in full health, I wouldn’t be shocked if he is put on injury reserve for at least part of his rookie season.

Tyree Gillespie:
The fourth-round pick has had its moments and the Raiders feel like he can be a solid player. With Karl Joseph injured, Gillespie had a chance to have more reps, so he should play a lot against San Francisco. It’s a chance for him to show that he can be a key special teams player right away and be a reliable backup as a rookie.

Tanner Muse:
Muse looks a lot like Deablo. He was a third-round pick in 2020 and converted to linebacker after being a security guard at Clemson. He was also injured in training camp as a rookie and missed his entire rookie season with a toe injury. He flashed on the outside linebacker earlier in training camp – and with all the other injuries, he has a real shot at being a basic outside linebacker in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens. So if Muse can build the confidence of the technical staff in this game, it would help his cause.

Brandon Parker:
Parker has received praise for his preseason work and he will likely be on the roster as a replacement. A big reason the Raiders are pretty thin on the save tackle. If he manages to finish the preseason well, Parker could prevent the Raiders from seeking help on the suspension wire at this position.

Amik Robertson:
The 2020 fourth-round pick has become more of a factor with the outside cornerback than the nickel cornerback, where he was drafted to play. He was decent enough but he has to finish strong. I think Robertson is sure to be on the list. However, the cornerback’s room is deep, so he could use a solid finish to lock in his place in the 53-man roster on Tuesday.
