California authorities have published a photo, dating back several decades, of a suspect in the murder of an eleven-year-old girl in 1973 hoping to jog in the memory of potential witnesses.

Officials from Orange County said Thursday that the photo might represent James Neal's appearance at about the time when Linda O 'Keefe was murdered. They ask everyone who has seen it then to move forward. The picture shows a smiling Neal with bushy hair and a mustache.

At age 72, he appeared in a Colorado court on Thursday. A judge scheduled a hearing on his extradition on February 28.

Neal was arrested this week in Colorado Springs when the girl was murdered in Newport Beach, California.

Linda was seen on July 6, 1973 while she was walking home and her body was found the next day.

The authorities claim that Neal lived in southern California in the 1970s.

A Colorado man was arrested after the DNA linked to the 1973 assassination of an 11-year-old Californian girl, yet has not decided on her. He was going to fight extradition.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports that James Neal, 72, of Monument, waved to his parents who were crying while he was being brought to court for a brief appearance Thursday. A judge scheduled a hearing on February 28, during which Neal could say whether he will oppose extradition to California to face a murder charge.

Neal was arrested Tuesday in Colorado Springs for an investigation into the killing of 14-year-old Linda O 'Keefe in Newport Beach, California.

Linda disappeared on July 6, 1973. She was seen returning home and her body was found the next day.

The authorities claim that Neal lived in southern California in the 1970s.
