Council approved the settlement on Tuesday as part of its consent program and without comment. The payment to Jamal Trulove settles a lawsuit for the violation of civil rights against four officers and the city. A federal jury awarded Trulove and his lawyers $ 14.5 million, but the city appealed. On Tuesday, the city agreed to give up its call in exchange for a lower payment.
Last year, a federal jury determined two pieces of evidence made by homicide detectives, forced an eyewitness and withheld vital information that could have exonerated Trulove.

The council of supervisors of San Francisco should approve Tuesday the payment of the complaint filed by Jamal Trulove.
Trulove was an aspiring actor and hip-hop artist when a jury convicted him of murder in 2010.
A court of appeal quashed the conviction and he was acquitted at a new trial in 2015.
Last year, a federal jury determined two pieces of evidence made by homicide detectives, forced an eyewitness and withheld vital information that could have exonerated Trulove. The jury awarded Trulove and his lawyer $ 14.5 million.
As part of the settlement, the city drops its appeal.
The two detectives withdrew.
