The Bear Quarterback Andy dalton was knocked out of yesterday’s win over the Bengals, and NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport has confirmed (the Twitter) that an MRI confirmed a bone bruise on the veteran’s knee. No official decision has been made on Dalton’s status for next weekend’s game against the Browns.
Dalton wasn’t great in the Bears’ first week loss to the Rams, but he looked a little better on Sunday. Before coming out with his injury, the veteran completed nine of his 11 passes for 56 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, after Justin Champs finished his two passing attempts and rushed for a touchdown in Week 1, the first-round pick completed just six of his 13 passing attempts for 60 yards yesterday. The tower also threw an interception and fumbled.
The Bears depth graph looks a bit unpredictable at the moment, and the trainer Mast Big didn’t do much to fix it this afternoon. When asked to reveal who would start Week 3 if both QBs are healthy, the head coach gave a breathtaking answer.
“This is something that I will not cover with the diagram”, Nagy said (via NFL Network’s Andrew Siciliano on Twitter).
Later, a team official clarified that Nagy had misinterpreted the question and that Dalton would remain the starter, if he was healthy (via ESPN’s Jeff Dickerson).
