This weekend, on January 18 and 19 in North Vidzeme, will take place the Latvian-Estonian rally championship "Rally Alūksne 2019", with a total of 85 crews at the start, informing the organizers.
In addition to the Latvian (LRC) and Estonian Championships, the first leg of the RK Historic and Latvian Championships will be held as part of the Aluksne Rally. In addition, the "Rally Alūksne 2019" is announced as a real winter rally since this year, the thickest layer of snow Aluksne has been created since 2013.
The most powerful group among the favorites will be Latvia's champion of the absolute champion of 2018, the Ukrainian Valery Gora, with "Mini John Cooper Works WRC". With their power, eight R5 sports car drivers will measure, including two Polish champions and other Estonian, Lithuanian and Russian riders. For the first time, Oliver, the son of famous Norwegian rally champion Peter Solberg, will drive this R5 car at Aluksne, which will start with the VW Polo R5.
The legendary Latvian rally driver Jānis Vorobjovs will be part of the "LRC1" group, which last year participated in the "Rally Alūksne" with the BMW M3 rear-wheel drive, but this year chose a Mitsubishi all-wheel drive car. It's Jānis Vorobjovas who has best managed to win the Aluksne rally – three times. With his power, runner-up Eddy Bergmanis and other strong athletes will be targeted.
Latvian and Estonian champion Emil Blume will be honored in the LRC2 category in 2018, while the LRC3 competition will be reinforced by 2018 Junior European champion Martins Sesks and Kens Torn in Estonia.
A total of 67 teams will compete for the title of Latvian Rally Champion, while 51 teammates will compete for points in the Estonian championship.
In turn, 25 crews will start the rallysprint.
The 2019 Alūksne Rally includes 10 stages, including 5 repeated twice. Two of them will be held in the dark of the race on Friday, January 18th.
The Opening Ceremony of the 2019 Alūksne Rally Race is scheduled for Friday 18 January at Brūža Street. 19.00 From the official start, drivers will travel to the first two stages of the night.
On Saturday 19 January the championships will be held all day long, but in the evening, rally fans will have the exclusive opportunity to meet athletes and be autographed at the award ceremony at 19.00 at the Aluksne Cultural Center, Brūža Street. 7.
