The song and dance festival of 119 regions of Latvia is not represented by one – Mērsrags.
This does not mean that the cultural life of Mersrags has been silenced. In the municipality, 21 ladies danced folk dances. But they will not be able to see dance this summer because women's dance groups do not invite them. There are no other collectives that qualify for the Festival of Song and Dance in Mersrags.
There are young dance groups in Mersrage, but there is no choir. In order to be on the next vacation, Mersrags is looking for money for the rental of conductor and cormorist so that the choir will be in the fall.
Mersrags did not participate in the previous singing and dancing festival of 2013. Then Zilupe, the most distant city of Latvia, stayed with them at home. This year, during the celebration of Zilupi's song and dance, dance groups are represented – the young dance group "Tracis" and the generation "Dancis"
Zilupees goes to Riga with two buses . One dancer drove, the other brought all the necessary things to both homemade and gigs. The performance of almost all Riga dancers will be the first and unforgettable experience of the celebration of song and dance
