We remind you that tomorrow, July 5, the amendments to the Code of Latvian Administrative Violations will come into force, providing for tougher penalties for a number of serious traffic offenses, including the following: use of smart devices. At the wheel, the problem remains – the police developed 1744 manifestations of administrative violations this year within six months for this violation. If a warning or a fine up to 15 euros has already been applied for such an offense, tomorrow's drivers will have to pay a fine of 25 to 100 euros for using a phone, laptop, tablet or smartphone. It should be noted, however, that this does not apply to the use of the hands-free system.
Law enforcement officials issued 8826 administrative offenses to protocols relating to seat belt discomfort and the carriage of non-carrier pbadengers. Until now, a warning has been issued for such an offense or a fine of 30 euros has been imposed. From tomorrow, there will be a warning or a fine of 30 to 70 euros for such an offense. The same penalty will be imposed on drivers of motorcycles, tricycles, quadricycles and mopeds so as not to wear a helmet or to transport a pbadenger without a protective helmet.
Administrative penalties will also be imposed on drivers for aggressive driving, such as anti-skid, moped or motorcycle riding. A wheel or tricycle, quadricycle on the rear wheels on the road or in other places where traffic is possible – the penalty will be between 70 and 280 euros. It will also punish for deliberately fast braking if it is not necessary for road safety.

Similarly, tomorrow, sanctions will be amended for violation of safety rules for the transportation of children. Follow the rules of the road and take care of your safety!
