Archaeologists have discovered a mummification workshop in the ancient necropolis south of Memphis, south of Cairo, archaeologists at a press conference Saturday

The discovery dates back to 664 to 404 BC

The last excavations at this site were made in 1900.

Artifacts found include gilded silver mummified masks and various dishes, some of which will be exhibited at the new museum still under construction. The first phase of construction of the museum is expected to be completed this year.

Archaeologists also discovered a 30-meter-deep funeral mound, with several mummies, wooden coffins and a sarcophagus.

"We are in front of the gold mines of information," said archaeologist Ramadan at a press conference
