25. and on 29 July, Pierre-Marie Cornin and James Binning will travel to Riga as part of the "Kompbad" event cycle, which will talk about their experiences with the abandoned building based on needs and neglected outdoor leisure projects, the portal "The representative of Kommpa Lāsma Ivaska informs Delphi.
Pierre-Marie Cornin, Associate Professor at the Atelier Autagérée (AAA) in Paris, will give a lecture on the fourth Kompbad event, which will take place on July 25 at 6.30pm in Ziepniekkalns, 22/2 Ozolciema Street. AAA was founded in 2001 and functions as a platform for the implementation of various experimental urban projects, involving artists, universities, local authorities, non-governmental organizations and, in particular, local people. In his lecture, Pierre-Marie will look at the AAA project "Agrocité", recognized internationally, where the organization of a social housing building in Paris, with the local population, has created a micro-farm for growing vegetables and herbs. There is also a cafe next to the micro-farm that uses products grown for cooking, as well as a training center on composting and a common baking oven. The conference and discussion will be held in the same place as Agrocity in the vast courtyard of Ziepniekkalns house in Ozolciema 22/2, where the warm-up event "Lamp" took place in May this year. year
29. In July, Kompbad went to Bolderaja, where on the third day of the festival, "Comet", when visitors enter for free, at 16:00, James Binings will perform at Assemble in the UK. "Assemble" is calling an interdisciplinary team in which everyone is interested in improving the quality of life of the city's inhabitants, but only some of them have training in architecture. As one of the most recognizable works Assemble, Granby Four Streets in Liverpool should be noted, and the team won the prestigious Turner Award in 2015. As part of this project, Assemble has rebuilt 20 abandoned buildings and helped create a social enterprise that creates and sells indoor objects from rubble, garbage and found objects. James Binings gives lectures at Daugavgriva fortress on this project and other Assembler collective projects, as well as their main unifying aspect – close cooperation with neighborhood residents.
