27. The Astronomical Society of Latvia (LAB) has informed the portal "Delfi" in July, July evening and the night of July 28 in Latvia, the longest full moon eclipse in the 21st century.

At the beginning of the glow, the moon first enters the slope of the Earth, after which will begin the partial phase of the eclipse, followed by a complete phase that lasts one hour and 43 minutes. As the Earth is surrounded by an atmosphere that also serves as a light-breaking environment, the moon never becomes completely black in its most complete eclipse, but is accented in a deep reddish or dark brownish tone, explains l & # 39; Association.

27. In July, the peak moment of the lunar eclipse will be around 11:22 everywhere in Latvia. Note that on the evening of this day, the Moon will jump to Riga at 9:36 pm, Liepaja – at 9:46 pm, Daugavpils – at 9:20 pm, the Sun at Riga at 9:46 pm, Liepaja – at 9:56 pm, Daugavpils – at 9:30 pm, but Complete eclipse will begin at 22:30 when the sky is still relatively light. At the beginning of the eclipse, part of the lunar disk will disappear from the sky shining skywards, but at the moment of the maximum phase of the eclipse, the sky will be dark enough to observe the moon's disk on a reddish or brownish tone

Latvia will end on July 28th at 0:13, the partial phase will end at 1:19. The nightmare will end completely at 2:29 when the Moon comes out of half of the Earth. At this point, the last part of the eclipse will end at half-time

Although eclipses of the moon occur on average two or three times a year, not all eclipses are complete and are not always visible in Europe. Obstacles to eclipses are often hindered by adverse weather conditions. In Latvia, the previous full moon eclipse was observed the night of 28 September 2015.

The next opportunity to observe the complete ecliptic of the Moon in Latvia will be very soon – the morning from 21 January 2019. But then, until the next lunar eclipse will have to wait six and a half – until 7 September 2025.

On the other hand, after two weeks – the August 11 – there will be a partial solar eclipse, added by the badociation. However, this will only be seen in less than half an hour in northern Latvia with a very small phase. This eclipse will not be observed in Riga

No special equipment is required to observe the lunar eclipse. It will be easy to observe at the naked eye without difficulty. A prerequisite for successful observation is clear skies and an appropriate viewing location where buildings or trees do not cover the southeast and south view.

The LAB brings together professionals and actors from astronomy to promote astronomy. The members of the LAB participate in the creation of the magazine "Starry Sky", lead the observation of the sky to the astronomical tower of the University of Latvia and organize regular information meetings.
