According to Jansone, there are nowadays in Latvia between 600 and 700 children suffering from oncological, neurological and genetic diseases that are incurable. Caring for these children rests with the parent, most often mom, shoulders. Currently, there is no place in Latvia where families who take care of children who can not be treated can be accommodated temporarily. Similar centers exist in many countries of the world and in Latvia it will be the center of "Dream Bridge".
The center will allow families to be at home while receiving all the help, support and care they need. It is expected that the center will be supported not only by the state, but also by donations and income from social enterprises.
Various creative therapies will be available for the children of the center: music therapy, art therapy, physiotherapy, psychotherapy, opportunity to visit the sensory space
The Palliative Care Society's mission is to provide psychosocial, medical and mental support to families with children with advanced chronic conditions and those with radical therapies.
