Dangerous cattle disease spreads in fertile farmland

In a number of farms in the Nereta region, a serious cattle disease – pasterelosis has spread over the past month, reports the Staburags newspaper.

In the past month, cows have died in the Nereta region of Ērberģe, Zalve and Vecumnieki districts in the rural municipality of Valle. According to the Food and Veterinary Service, the tests carried out this week in the Nereta region confirm a dangerous disease: the pasteurite. . The main distributors of the disease are sick animals and carriers of the disease. The disease is characterized by haemorrhagic septicemia – in acute but chronic cases – with pneumonia, pleurisy and abscess.

Pasteuritis most commonly affects cattle, and this disease is less frequently diagnosed in other animal species. If the treatment of animals is initiated in a timely manner and at the same time improves the conditions of care and nutrition of the animals, its results can be crowned with success.
