Karlis Zirns, the head coach of the under-20 Latvian hockey team, Karlis Zirns, has started the preparations for the Group A World Championship; it has a total of 32 players, most of whom are from the Russian Youth Ice Hockey League (MHL), said the Latvian Ice Hockey Federation (LHF).
The list includes a total of three goalkeepers, ten defenders and 19 forwards. The world championship will take place in the first division of Group A from 9 to 15 December in Fisen, Germany.
The largest representation in the riding comes from the MHL championship. In total, 15 of the included candidates played against MHL this season. Peak also attracted seven North American ice hockey players, three in Switzerland, but one in Germany and Sweden.
The team also includes two strikers from the Latvian Continental Hockey League (KHL), Riga Dinamo – Emil Geger and Daniel Berzins.
The Latvian under-20 team will start a training camp in preparation for the World Championship on Friday and will not start full-time with its first lesson.
The horse-drawn horse will be held in Volvo's lobby until next Wednesday, when the team will leave for the world championship.
Before the December 6 World Championship, Latvian U-20 players will be in contact with their Austrian peers. After this fight, Pea will announce the final selection for the World Championship.
An American specialist, Frensis Anzalone, who previously collaborated with the Northwind Hockey League (NAHL) Latvian specialist in the Boudery-Shreveport Mudbugs team, also attended the Zir this season, as well as Group A of the World Cup of last year in France. The tasks of the badistant will be provided by Raimonds Vilkoits, who works every day in the unit MHL "Riga". Meanwhile, Erik Visockis will be responsible for the under 20's fitness as usual.
In preparation for the World Championship, the Latvian under-20 team participated in the Danish International Relay Tournament in November, where it won first place.
Latvia will play against Belarus, Germany, France, Austria and Norway in the first division of the Group A World Cup. Last year, ice hockey players Latvians failed to return to the elite division, coming close to losing points against Kazakhstan.
At the beginning of last year, Latvia played in the elite division, but lost in all matches, which dropped the tournament to a lower level.
