Referring to publicly announced information on KPV LV's proposal to the political parties elected by the Saeima to enter into a confidentiality agreement, the Latvian Association of Journalists (LŽA) called on the parties not to sign such agreements.
The president of the badociation, Ivonna Plaude, stressed that such a party action would be unacceptable.
"It is unacceptable that issues of such importance to society, such as the government's formation process and the introduction of substantial reforms, be called into question by unclear and confidential confidentiality agreements. unacceptable in society, your work, "says Plaude in a statement.
The Latvian Journalists' Association stresses that, in line with democratic practice, at a time when parties decide on country-specific reforms and the composition of the government, information on their positions and decisions must be transparent and easily accessible to the public.
The badociation also calls for a very thorough evaluation of the idea of resuming practice so that government sessions are closed again. This approach to government work had been halted even before joining the European Union in 2002. Taking into account the principles of open data and the importance of the transparency of the decision-making process, such a step, according to the LAG, could hinder the process of quality public information on national issues.
As Prime Minister Alda Gobzeme's government's government negotiating plan was presented by KPV LV, the first meeting held on Tuesday was the signing of a confidentiality agreement. For the moment, the badociation of the party "Development / For!" And the party "New Unity" have adhered to the confidentiality agreement.
Similarly, during the interviews, a number of disagreements between political forces were noted. Most parties disagree with the establishment of "KPV LV" during closed meetings of the Cabinet of Ministers and regarding the automatic admission of state secrets to deputies and ministers of Saeima.
It was announced that President Raimonds Vejonis, after meeting all the political forces at the 13th Saeima, decided on November 26 to entrust the formation of the government to the leader of the party "KPV LV" Aldis Gobzems.
President Gömez, alongside the president-elect, Gobzem, like his predecessor, gave two weeks to the new leader of the conservative party, Janis Bordans, to mark the outlines of the government, get the support of the majority of the Saeima and highlight the possible composition of the government and the priority work to be carried out. If Gobzem does not succeed until December 10 (inclusive), Vjonis will remember his appointment and invite another candidate for the post of prime minister to form a government.
