The dry climate continued on Monday, with widespread fires in Latvia, reported by the National Service for Fire and Rescue (VUGD).
During the last day, 58 fires were recorded, with a total area of more than 124 hectares. In terms of area, the largest block fire occurred in the rural municipality of Nautrēni de Rezekne, where the last grbad burned on an area of 70 hectares. It took firefighters about three hours to get rid of this fire.
In the Naujene civil parish of the Daugavpils region, when the beam burned in a small area, the sauna building with a total area of 15 square meters was also set on fire.

A total of 543 fires were recorded this year. SFRS urges residents not to burn bones and, by cleaning untreated and undeveloped areas, not to burn the last grbades as they are prohibited and the burning of the bark not only threatens human property, health and life, but also causes significant damage to nature.
