During the next semester, the Saint-Simon de Valmiera Church will not issue any ringing tones. On Thursday, November 29, the two bells were removed from the tower to bring them back to the Netherlands after Christmas.
Although there were two bells in the tower of St. Simon's Church in Valmiera, only one of them has long used the bell. The smallest call was not a phone call because there was a big void. For now, attracting European funds of funds has helped to restore both calls. To get them out of the tower, preparations have already been made the day before.
The two calls made by the crane since the tower were opened by an open window; they are now placed in a church where everyone can see the calls. Valmerians and guests can come and see what they look like and even touch them on the spot. Once at the top, it will not be possible.
The big bell is in the tower of the Simon church since 1754, while the little one has served much less – since 1902. In mid-January, the two bells will go to Holland, where their restoration will take place.
The restoration of the church tower continues, the staircases of the tower, the renovated doors and windows and the altered soils are gradually being rebuilt. It is also planned to restore the mechanism of the clock.
Ainārs Pastva, president of St Simons Church, said: the tower will be gradually upgraded and will be available again for visitors in the spring, but the church's renovation work is yet to come. The building has to change the roof, restoration is also needed inside and there is a new sound of church organs.
