On Saturday, December 8, the National Film Center "Splendid Palace" will host a Centennial Film Marathon under the slogan "Thank you for your visit!" – an opportunity to congratulate the filmmakers and viewers who have created and continue to create the Latvian Films for the Latvian Century program as an important long-term gift to Latvia.

The program of the Latvian Film Center "Latvian films for Latvia's century" includes 16 feature films, the first of which began in 2017 and will continue until 2019, announced the National Film Center. Until the end of the anniversary year, 14 films have already been presented and all fourteen will be able to see it again or for the first time on December 8, the Splendid Palace cinema will be in both venues throughout the day – the first show in the Great Hall starts at 10 am and the last show – at 11 pm in the Little Hall and 11:15 pm in the Great Hall. The film marathon sessions of one hundred years will open at no cost of entry. Free tickets will be available at the Splendid Palace box office and the Ticket Service on December 5th.

One of the important objectives of the contribution of the program "The Latvian film for the Latvian century" is to open the century-old cinemographers to cinematographers of other countries. This is why the National Film Center invites filmmakers from other countries and directors of photography of different nationalities to pbad over the centuries. All films will be screened by translation. Thanks to the dynamic participation in the projection of the centennial film in the regions of Latvia, writers and organizers of cultural life from different regions of Latvia are invited to the projection of the Centennial Film Marathon.

Special session at 6:30 pm "The Splendid Palace" will be honored by the authors of 16 centenary films in the Great Hall; Homo Novus this season will be presented, this year's most visited centennial movie, with more than 77,000 viewers recently.

According to statistics, all centenarians have already visited more than 300,000 spectators. This is certainly not the end result, movies dating back at least seven hundred years are shown in various repertoires of cinemas and others aired from time to time.

The program "Latvian films for the centenary of Latvia" radically upset the statistics on visiting cinemas in the country. In 2018, several previous and non-record highs were overcome. For example, during the ten months of most of this year's ten feature films in Latvian cinemas, there are five Latvian films (previous years, at best one or two), including three in the "Latvian Films for centenary of Latvia ".

The topography of the "twentieth century", which summarizes the results of the visit of Latvian films in an independent country (from the mid-90s), has also changed in an encouraging way – all these five centuries ago were already in the TOP 15 most visited independent films in Latvia.

Two of the program's films will be screened next year: January 18, Gata Smith's feature film "1906" will be screened, and on February 1 – the animation film of Edmund Janson "James, Mimmy and Talking Dogs".
