For the first time, SIA LDZ Apsardze participated in the evaluation of the sustainability index, falling into the category of silver companies, but SIA LDz Loïistika evaluated the category bronze.

LDz has participated in the evaluation of the sustainability index since 2011 and the evaluation of the experts has improved from year to year, which allowed the company to improve the sustainability index. improve its performance each year and reach the highest platinum category.

Confirming a responsible attitude towards resources, the environment, society and stakeholders, LDz has prepared and published an annual report on sustainable development for 2018, which provides an overview of the economic and financial performance of the region. enterprise, the implementation of major projects, the daily activities of LDz as well as public and international activities. .. Last year was a milestone in the development of LDz: the new strategic vision of the group was presented. In addition, in the autumn, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia approved the indicative development plan for the railway infrastructure developed by the Ministry of Transport, on the basis of which a multi-year agreement was concluded between the Ministry and the LDZ, which provides for the maintenance of the volume, quality and capacity of the existing infrastructure, for the next five years. major investment projects for the competitiveness of rail infrastructure.

At the same time, in 2018, LDz continued to strengthen its positions in international markets and to attract new partners by participating in various international exhibitions, both in Europe and Asia. Cooperation has been strengthened with the neighbors of existing strategic importance – Russia and Belarus.

With regard to sustainable exploitation and future development, LDz continued its work on the first phase of the railway electrification project. Following the decisions made by the Cabinet of Ministers in 2017 that approved the implementation of the first phase of the project in Riga and its implementation solution without involvement of the state budget, a favorable opinion of the 39 Central Finance and Contracts Agency (CFLA) was received in March 2018, the project application was forwarded to the European Commission. The sustainability report is included in the management report and summary report of the joint stock company "Latvijas dzelzceļš", which contains information on the financial indicators at company and group level as a whole.
