Intensive work in Latvia and with partners, direct flights to China could be launched by the end of the year, said Helmut Koll, spokesperson for the Latvian Ministry of Transport for the Ministry of Transport in Beijing.
He said that in 2016, both countries pledged to look for solutions so that direct flights can take place. Chinese representatives visited the airport "Riga", as well as the national air fleet AirBaltic. They said that they enjoyed what they saw.
According to Kola, one of the destinations in China will be the province of Hainah in southern China.
BACKGROUND:
The agreement on the first steps in this direction was concluded during the visit of Minister of Economic Affairs Arville Asheraden ("Unity") to China in 2016. It has been said that to increase the number of Chinese tourists to Latvia, there was a lack of convenient air traffic. Experts stressed that Latvia should also promote its reputation by attracting tourists. Similarly, Martins Gauss, head of airBaltic, had previously pointed out that flights could be made, but to achieve this, it would take a partner in China.
