Yesterday, July 18, the Daugavpils Environmental Regional Council (VVD) of the State Environmental Service (VVD) received resident complaints about fin fish found on the Feymank River. The most likely fish loss in the Feimanka River could have been caused by a temporary leakage of untreated sewage from the Preiļi factory to Preiļi, as the company was in production Tuesday evening, July 17, an accident. The amount of pollution created is being clarified. The pollution, moving along the Feymanke River, is located in shallow areas of the river and has caused locust deaths. The situation has also been aggravated by the high temperature of the air.
JSC Preiļuiers is currently working on the prevention of an emergency situation. Wastewater is currently accumulated in concrete sludge fields located on the site. The company should conduct monitoring on the evacuation site of Preiļupīte wastewater treatment plant and provide other preventive measures to prevent damage to the environment.
The VPR of Daugavpils started processing the administrative offenses of JSC "Preiļu siers" not to inform the VVD.
VVD Daugavpils VPR will also calculate the loss of fishery resources.
