Effective January 1, 2019, new rates for two-tier natural gas distribution system services were adopted by introducing fixed connection charges based on the allowable load of the connection, regardless of the amount of natural gas consumed. .
Now, the payment for the natural gas distribution service has two parts: the fixed part and the variable part, which will depend on the amount of natural gas consumed. For households, the fixed component with VAT will cost € 2.14 per month. This is the maximum possible rate increase for the distribution system – the more gas the consumer consumes, the lower the payment increase for natural gas distribution will be.
For those who use gas only for cooking at home, the maximum possible increase in the gas bill in the tariff rate of distribution will be € 2.14 per month. On the other hand, the variable component of tariffs, or the cost of natural gas consumed, will decrease for all groups of consumers compared to current rates.
The new JSC "Gaso" tariffs approved by the Public Services Commission will eliminate the problem of "zero" unfair connections, because in the future, these customers will also have to pay for infrastructure maintenance or refuse to to log in. According to Gaso, more than 20,000 customers are those who do not use gasoline at all or spend a very small amount of money over the course of the year. These "empty" connections must also be upgraded and maintained on a continuous basis, but these costs have so far been borne by other natural gas consumers.
JSC "Gaso" has only one area of ?? specific activity – operating the natural gas distribution system. The only source of income of the company is the service tariff of the distribution system, and the amount of income and profits of JSC "Gaso" is regulated by the state. Costs related to the provision of distribution services were not fully covered by the JSC "Gaso" because the previous tariffs had been approved 10 years ago, taking into account another level of consumption of gas. Since 2008, natural gas consumption has declined by a third, while in the distribution system, more than 90% of costs are fixed and do not depend on the amount of natural gas consumed.
JSC "Gaso" invests annually in the maintenance and refurbishment of more than 5,200 km of pipelines from tariff revenues to ensure safe and continuous operation of the gas distribution system. Investments are made to increase network security as well as periodic and preventive controls to prevent or minimize the risk of emergencies. JSC "Gaso" annually invests about 10 million euros in the safety, restoration, prevention and construction of new gas pipelines.
