EC approves Tele2 and T-Mobile merger in the Netherlands

The European Commission (EC) has authorized Tele2 and the merger agreement reached between T-Mobile in the Netherlands, informs Tele2.

Tele2 and T-Mobile announced the merger in the Netherlands in December 2017 and since then the EC has badessed the terms of this transaction.

Anders Nilsson, head of the Tele2 group, expressed his satisfaction that the EC has approved the merger of Tele2 and T-Mobile in the Netherlands without additional conditions.

"This will allow us to create a strong and competitive business, which will not only make competition worse, but also increase the volume of investment in the Dutch market," added Nilsson.

The merger of the Dutch subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, a German telecommunications operator operating under the T-Mobile brand, and the Dutch subsidiary of Tele2 of the Swedish telecommunications operator will end in January 2019. The combined company Tele2 will hold 25% of his actions. After the merger, the company will also retain the brand "Tele2".

Tele2 is also present in the three Baltic countries.
