One of the most beautiful sights of Latvia is the parade of the song, where thousands of people roam the streets of Riga national identity. Many choirs and dance collectives go to folk costumes, and other choir ors are decorated by the famous Latvian masters of concert costumes. A beautiful fairy that makes the appearance of a truly beautiful choir is the fashion designer Edith Trey, an artist who wanders in hand.
The first word was "Pfaff"
"I remember my model five years ago, when dolls are cluttered," says Edith. "That's what most girls do in my childhood, but I have this desire. Remember my first sewing experience. The only connection with my grandmother was his Pfaff hand sewing machine. She was not a seamstress, but a doctor, however, she could have stitched the dress overnight. We did not live in life, but with my sewing machine I did my first articles. I sat at the sewing machine and thought about what end the thread could be. Loop at least 25 times until you succeed. I was about thirteen years old. Feel that I have something in my character from my dad's parents. Something stingy and perseverance. An interesting legend popped up in the family – someone from the family had studied that we were creating Janis Rozentāls. I laugh at that, so there is at least an explanation of where it attracts a lot of creative things. My parents are not artists, but I am very grateful for their support on the path I have chosen. Also for my husband and all my family, who always accompanies me and with me! "
Kalitan – white horse
The unique project in the life of the artist is the brand of clothes" Kalitan. "A bit of a mystery is the story of how this name Edite's daughter, at the age of eight, made a stringed instrument from the shoebox and wrote on the sides: Kalitans.Nobody knew where it was coming from this curious name Edith and her husband discovered that Kalitan was a remarkable Thrash racehorse in North America, where he had enjoyed great success a hundred years ago The son drew a horse that became the figurative form Mark
"I have experienced the highest flight since I feel that cosmic energy is going through me and that the things that are happening are miraculous. "Kalitan" understands my philosophy of life, with this collection I address myself to the public with the idea: "Be happy! Do what you have to do in this world! Do it to find out why you have come to this world. "And the white horse is like a symbol of creative freedom. My creative flight has resulted in real events that have only built trust – go and do, reach their goals! "Explains the artist.
Edita's work is part of the Adazi Free Waldorf School. She perceives this mission – to release creative energy in children and young people, giving the consciousness of the mantle and the desire to work. For the fourth year with colleagues, Art Days are organized by the school, and one of their sections is sartorial performance on a specific subject. This year, the artist felt that she should talk about peace in herself and in the world – "Peace in her pocket". This is the current concern for all, and the younger generation feels the perception of these things. Costumes created by young artists from household and household waste – illiquid paper, plastics and similar materials. And the creative spirit has made it possible to transform insignificant materials into art.
"Such events provide a hopeful look into the future.Because, in what areas the future generation will work later, the important thing is that a person already develops sensitive hearts. , open your eyes and understand that we are both co-responsible for our country. "
Koru Visions
Currently, Edita is very busy, as it creates stage costumes for choirs. The vision of the costume must be based on the story because the artist creates the image of the scene inspired by the musical performance of the group of artists. It is quite difficult to create a costume in which the stage performer feels like a second skin, and in a perfect version, a good stage performance creates a creative uprising and allows the singer to sing even better. A very interesting experience for the artist was the creation of vocal group "Latvian Voices" stage costumes for the concert program "Rūtoj", which was held in cooperation with "Riga 2014". Generally, the creative thoughts of the artist are limited by the budget. This was the rare case where Edith could implement her 90% plan. Transformable costumes were added with titanium rattan.
"I knew that girls wearing these outfits would lead the world and represent the state of Latvia.I listened to the folk songs arranged" Latvian Voices "in performance and meditation, then there is a Latvian … Has the seventh year expelled, hometown, silence and suffering? No! A Latvian is unique in his ability to survive in all circumstances, with the virtues of his work, with his talents singer and his folk songs! From the shelf, I unveiled the "Sunshine" of Vadim Vike-Freiberg, and I realized that the symbol of the sun, that many people would understand in a non-language language, will be what I will bring in my costumes, and the color is very saturated yellow. "
There must be strong personalities to get rid of it. The girls in the vocal group can and can still do it – they have immediately managed their yellow dresses in France. An interesting coincidence was the meeting between the designers and the singers of the Melbourne Latvian House. Although they were caught at once and inadvertently, they gathered on a stage. The girls sang and the artist talked about creating this collection.
Every creative artist offers something new, unprecedented, and often faces a variety of challenges. This time technology allows you to demolish the distance barrier and create individual costumes for humans in any country of the world. For example, they became the costumes of the Latvian Luxembourg choir "Meluzin", which the artist commissioned from afar. To be able to sew a costume, each girl had to remove 23 measure, which created an image of the peculiarities of the body. And the idea has become reality
The costumes of creators are sometimes entirely made from A to Z. However, there are often very large works like costumes for choirs. To do this, Edite is a carefully selected team with whom he has worked for years. In addition, the artist chooses harmonious people whose positive personality brings their share of clothing.
"Every artist has a writing while he is alive, my writing consists of the desire to work with natural materials, to give a texture and a unique color to the smooth fabric, and to like asymmetry, which is a living thing. I like things where I can wait for the joy of discovery, things that will surprise me. Speaking of the future, there are many ideas, some have so conquered places in the consciousness that they seem to be real events. Now, just keep trying to fill it in.
Note: Contemplation
Andra Zvejniece, head of the mixed Adazi choir "Roots" and singer of the "Latvian Voices": "I love things that happen to me and I am open to experiencing many new things," Edite smiles. Details, material and senses that costumes are very important to Edith, the characteristic feature of an artist is to achieve all that is planned and not to shrink from material or other circumstances. I know that in costume design, the artist guides the feelings and emotions of the songs and choruses interpreted by the music or the voice. The dresses are like a ghost of a particular collective. For me, as a singer and conductor, it is very important to be confident on stage, and Edite's scenic performances always give that scenic confidence. "
