Eritrea plans to reopen the embbady in Ethiopia on Sunday, 15 July. This step represents a rapid improvement in the relationship between these two African countries after a break of about 20 years.
It is hoped that the renewal of diplomatic relations between Eritrea and Ethiopia will greatly improve the disadvantaged situation in this region of Africa
Renewal of diplomatic contacts takes place during of Eritrean President's visit to Ethiopia. The embbady was closed in 1998 when a border dispute broke out between the two countries.
However, a month ago, the head of the Ethiopian government introduced a new initiative under which a peace treaty was signed. The two countries promised to rebuild flights and develop port cooperation, which promises to improve the situation in the region.
