A Russian cargo plane arrived Friday in central France at Shatur to load 50 tons of medical equipment and other goods from France.
"The purpose of this project is to provide civilians with better access to help," says a joint statement
. The plane flew from Shatrov to the Hmeimima base in Syria on Friday night.
This will be the first joint humanitarian operation to be conducted by Russia and a Western country
Assistance will be split Saturday under the supervision of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
