KPV LV President Aldis Gobzem presents the schedule of government talks with potential coalition partners. It is considering 10 meetings to agree on the work to be done, to evaluate the reform plan and its fiscal impact and to allocate areas of responsibility.
At the first meeting, Gobzem proposed a timetable to the government.
On November 27, the New Conservative Party (JKP), the "Development / Partnerships", the Union of Greens and Farmers (ZZS), the National Alliance and the "New Unity" participated in the discussions.
Talks are expected to continue on Wednesday, November 28.
At the next meeting, Gobzem proposes to discuss the principles of cooperation, dispute resolution and internal and external communication. Gobzem wants to agree on the principles of cooperation within the government, between the government and the Saeima, as well as between factions of the coalition in the Saeima.
The third meeting should propose a memorandum of cooperation that potential coalition partners could sign.
At the fourth and fifth meetings, it is proposed to discuss the government's reform plan and timetable for its implementation, based on the government statement of KPV LV.
Gobzem then proposes an badessment of the fiscal implications of the proposed reforms and defines the preamble of the government statement.
It was only at the seventh meeting that Gobzem offered the party its vision of a division of ministries and areas of responsibility, while political forces could discuss the first option of a government statement. In addition, the parties would discuss each of these issues separately with the Prime Minister and the negotiators.
The next meeting is scheduled to discuss the second sentence of the wording of the government statement.
At the ninth meeting, the parties were invited to agree on the final version of the Government's statement. At the tenth meeting, the Prime Minister, ministers and Saeima coalition members signed a declaration.
CONTEXT:
After the 13th Saeima elections, the three political forces – Janis Bordans, new leader of the Conservative Party, representative of KPV LV Aldis Gobzems and Artis Pabriks, representative of "Development / Par!" – have been seriously appointed to the post of Prime Minister. During the month, the party was unable to agree on a coalition and President Raimonds Vejonis called on Bordan to form a government, but failed.
Then, Vonjonis called on the parties to work more actively to form a government leaving them a week until November 26. Three days later, no formal meeting was organized, which provoked dissatisfaction with the president. On November 26, Vejonis gave Gobzam two weeks to establish a government.
