Last day, 25 fires were erased in Latvia, and one person died in a fire in Ludza District, said Inta Palkavniece, the representative of the National Service for Fire and Rescue (VUGD).

On the fire in Ludza District, VUG was called at 11:19 pm and it was found that a two-storey wooden dwelling house was on the premises. The building burned an apartment of 60 square meters and a staircase. One person died in a shootout

In turn, in the Daugavpilssky area, rescuers of the water plan brought to light a drowned man. The SUGD call was received because one person had swum but had not come back.

A total of five fires were erased in Riga, in six other cities, but in 14 registered fire-fighting districts.

The VUGD also performed 17 rescue tasks and received nine misleading calls.

At the beginning of the year, 5975 fires were recorded in Latvia, including 2091 fires last year. 179 were killed in the fire department, but 37 people died, including two minors.
