In central and western Japan, heavy rains caused devastating floods and landslides. Several villages have experienced a sharp increase in water levels and citizens have been forced to seek salvation on the roofs of their homes.
About two million people were urged to evacuate, but many decided not to live.
Meteorologists issued a new warning on Sunday, July 8, increasing the level of danger in other areas affected by thunderstorms. In addition, people are warned that there is a risk of landslides even in places where the rain falls.
