The Lithuanian Special Investigation Service suspected of corruption has arrested the chairman of the Vilnius District Alien Language Examination Board and the Constitution of Lithuania, as well as two of its members and six people.
Part of the participants in this process worked in the Lithuanian migration system at the same time. They allowed foreigners, without the necessary knowledge, to pbad the examinations on the basis of knowledge of the Lithuanian language and the Lithuanian constitution for fictitious examinations and to obtain relevant documents
This allowed foreigners obtain a permanent residence permit in a neighboring country. Such systems attract criminal groups, terrorist organizations and hostile national intelligence and may endanger the national security or public order of Lithuania or other bloc countries. ] This is not the first investigation involving possible corruption in the Lithuanian migration system. Since 2014, 11 people have been accused of providing residence permits to foreign nationals.
