The public sector is growing faster

During the year, the average salary in the public sector increased faster than in the private sector – by 8.5% and 7.7% respectively.

The average gross monthly wage in the private sector was 992 euros, in the public sector – 1,036 euros, while in the general government sector, which includes state and local government institutions, as well as the controlled companies. and financed by the state and the municipalities, the average salary was 993 euros. , 8%.

In September, in the public sector, the average wage was 994 euros, while in the private sector it was 976 euros.

In general, the average salary of more than 1000 euros was maintained from May to August, but in the public sector also in April. In the private sector, however, this limit was only exceeded for two months: in July and August.

Last September, we also saw an average decline in wages.

Salary after tax 744 euros

In the third quarter of 2018, the average net salary was 744 euros (calculated with the help of workplace taxes applicable in the workplace). Compared with the previous quarter, net salaries decreased by 22 cents. Over the year, it grew by 9.5%, with a faster growth rate of 1.5 percentage points compared to pre-tax pay.

The actual increase in net wages, given the 2.9% rise in consumer prices over the course of the year, stood at 6.4%.

The largest increase in health and social care

In the third quarter, the gross wage fund grew by 9.6%, or 203.4 million euros, compared to the third quarter of the previous year, while the number of full-time recalculated employees increased 1.5%, or 11.4 thousand euros.

The highest salary – in the finance and insurance sectors
