In the solo show "Shaded Nature", Vija Zariņa is still interested in landscape / Article / LSM.LV

"For me, however, it's the Latvian landscape, as if in the details it's not visible, but it's obvious.There are trees, shrubs and water lines, and Even though it is not my purpose to paint something precisely from nature, I do not paint a specific place, but a specific feeling.

I paint the room, and it is the feeling that the spectators tell me, I know the place, I went there, but I smile, because I know that this place is in my head ", explains Vija Zariņa of the 'exposure.

"If you have been painting for almost 40 years, if you are in professional painting and I really like this clbadic painting, then you have this hard drive, its head is full, my experience is great and its landscapes live in my head and I spread them out very long, and when I look at them like that, I paint them.I paint as long as I have it in the painting, "continues the artist." The previous exhibition that took place a year ago in the exhibition hall "Arsenāls" in the company of Kaspars Zarins, a large format work of the painter, was looking for the code of the Latvian landscape.

"I was painting it with Arsenals, I'm painting it in Latvia, but some Lithuanian artists come to say with emotion to see where my Lithuania is, I say no, no, no, it's on the way to Lithuania, where I'm starting the plains and its great borders, so to speak, I feel that it's my Latvia, "says Zarina.

Line extracted, horizon in the exhibition. This is attested even by the name of the paintings "Krasta līnija". The artist reveals who is most fascinated by him.

"In fact, I like the most among the seasons." Our latitudinal degrees are the four seasons, they are very pronounced, but I like, for example, that autumn falls in summer, because that the winter tree or something like a year starts another season.There is something intolerable and beautiful, "says Zarina.

Vija Zarina asks the viewer not to paint an image immediately, it must be carefully observed. Anda Treija, director of the Daugava gallery, explains how he perceived the mood in the landscape.
